The Evolution of Eco-Friendly Packaging for European Exports

Table of Contents

Over the past few years, HiPack has observed significant changes in packaging materials for European exports. Single-use plastic inserts have disappeared, and foam inserts are now rare. The most commonly used materials are paper-plastic composites and cardboard. Despite additional costs associated with laminating paper for environmental taxes, its usage has decreased.

Overcoming Production Challenges

Designing foldable boxes entirely made of paper was a major challenge. Unlike previous designs using magnets, double-sided tape, or ribbons, these boxes needed to be simple yet sturdy.

Our design team developed a flip-top box with a locking tab closure, using only paper materials. The folding mechanism allowed for compact storage and efficient shipping. When stacked, four boxes measured 25 cm in height, but when folded, they reduced to just 2.5 cm, saving significant storage space and shipping costs.

We developed a design with foldable locking tabs, eliminating the need for these materials, ensuring secure closure and simplicity. Introducing a honeycomb paperboard insert provided excellent protection and shock absorption, further enhancing sustainability and cost-effectiveness for global shipping.

HiPack’s innovative solutions in eco-friendly packaging not only meet stringent environmental standards but also provide practical and cost-effective options for global shipping, showcasing our commitment to sustainability and excellence.
